Viola will always be remembered as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who brought joy and happiness to everyone around her.
Life story
Viola lived in Dickinson, Texas and enjoyed family gatherings, blues music, fishing, and watching Western TV shows like Gun Smoke and M*A*S*H. She was baptized and a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Viola worked as a caretaker for many years and frequently babysat children. She was a friendly person who made new friends wherever she went, and showed love to everyone she met. She enjoyed playing cards and was particularly fond of spades and dominoes. Food was one of her favorite things, and if you've ever tasted her fried ribs, you know how special they were.
Viola’s family was the most important part of her life. She was affectionately called “Mima” by her grandchildren — or grandbabies, as she loved to say. She had a positive outlook on life and never let it get the best of her. Viola taught daily lessons on respect, owning up to your wrongdoings, being careful with the words you use, and most importantly, showing love and care to others.
Family
She is survived by her special companion, Walter Lee Holt of Dickinson, Texas; three daughters: La’Tayna Hill (Greer), Te’Kisha Norris, and Cynthia Jones; one sister: Cynthia King (Clifford) of Dickinson, Texas; and three brothers: Vincent Jones (Susan) of Waller, Texas; Reginald (Katherine) and Allen Jones III (Lavern) of Dickinson, Texas. She is also survived by two grandsons, L.C. Norris III and Christian LeFleur, one God-grandson, Chad Everett Williams III, four granddaughters, Chelsea Murray (Rafiu), Chasidy Murray (Jordan), Neveah Norris, and Nevaeh Norris, one God-granddaughter, A’Lani Jenkins, as well as two great-granddaughters, Corinne Soleil Battle and Coraline Selah Battle, who will cherish her memory.
Viola's kind and loving nature touched the lives of many people, so it's no surprise that she leaves behind a large network of family members and friends who will deeply miss her presence in their lives. Among those she left behind are her cousins, nieces, and nephews, who will remember her as a beloved aunt who always had a kind word to say and a warm smile to share. Her wide circle of friends, who were drawn to her magnetic personality, will also mourn her loss and carry with them cherished memories of the time they spent together. Viola was a loyal friend to both Marilyn Williams and Diane Jenkins, who were always there to lend an ear or offer a shoulder to cry on. Her presence in their lives will be deeply missed.
Despite the sadness of her passing, Viola's legacy of kindness and love will live on through all those who knew her, and her memory will continue to bring comfort to those who loved her. She will always be remembered as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who brought joy and happiness to everyone around her.
