Trina Elaine Shaw Obituary

A Life Well Lived

Trina Shaw was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth, wisdom, and presence left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Born in Galveston, TX, on November 6, 1968, to Linda Faye Shaw and John L. Melvin, Trina grew up with a strong sense of family and perseverance.

Throughout her life, she embraced every role with grace—whether as a devoted parent, relative, friend, hardworking nurse and caregiver, or an encouraging spirit. She had a deep passion for caring for others and found joy in spending quality time with family and friends, giving back to her community, and pouring love into everyone God placed in her path.

Trina was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Faye Shaw; her grandmothers, Annie Shaw and Annie Bell Small; her grandfather, John L. “Slick” Williams; and her brothers, Richard “Bubba” Shaw and Damien Melvin.

Family meant everything to Trina. She is survived by her only daughter, Mar’Keisha Cooper; her father, John Melvin; and two bonus daughters, Quinetta “Renee” Turner and Breasia “Buttah” Mathis. She also leaves behind her sisters Darvette Shaw (Larry “Mr. Honky” Praylor) and LaQuesa Greer; brothers Bernard Shaw Sr. and Dyrone Melvin; nieces Memory Richardson, Dajon Melvin, Tenevia Toldon, and London Shaw; nephews James Francis II, Daven Richardson, David Richardson, Devon West and Bernard “BJ” Shaw Jr.; along with a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and countless others who were touched by her generosity and kindness.

Trina had a heart for helping those in need, teaching others, and bringing joy to everyone around her. Her radiant smile, infectious laughter, quick wit, storytelling, and unwavering strength will remain with us always.

As we say goodbye, we remember not just the moments we shared but the love that continues to guide and inspire us.

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
— Psalm 73:26
