Tommy Lee Johnson Obituary
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Tommy Lee Johnson quietly fell asleep on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, in Houston, TX following a brief illness.
He was born in Jonesville, Louisiana to his parents, Louis Welch and Carrie Johnson Plater. He was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas, and affectionately loved his mother, brother, and nephew, Andrew, who was like a son to him. Tommy always had a strong work ethic and retired as a Driver from the Solid Waste & Recycling Department for the City of West University Place, (Houston), where he worked for over 30 years.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Welch and Carrie Johnson Plater; step-father: Eugene Plater, Sr.; his brother, Eugene (Blue) Plater, Jr.; maternal grandparents: Harrison Johnson, Sr. and Annie Johnson; his uncles, Willie Johnson, Sr., Joe Johnson, Arthur Lee Johnson; Harrison Johnson, Jr., his aunts, Tiny Johnson, Elouise Johnson, Marguerite Johnson, Cora Whitley and Norma Jean Carter.
Left to cherish his memories is his devoted and loving nephew, Andrew Plater, his aunt Emma Johnson, uncle, TJ Carter and a host of cousins and friends. His dog “Missy” was his greatest joy. They had a bond like no other.
There is VICTORY in Jesus because he is mighty in battle and we are here to celebrate that VICTORY. May God continue to bless all of you in a special way.
