SeaKara Laniece Carter Obituary

SeaKara Laniece Carter aka Ceci was born on October 28, 1986, in Galveston, Texas, to Tracy Carter-Lewis and has been affectionately known as her “Geechee girl.” She was raised in a God loving home filled with peace, happiness, laughter and joy—qualities that shaped the kind, compassionate woman she became.

SeaKara attended the public schools of Galveston and was a proud graduate of Ball High School, Class of 2005. Continuing her education, she attended College of the Mainland, where she earned her Medical Assistant Certificate. She found her true calling in the medical field, serving with excellence and compassion at UTMB Family Medicine Clinic. Her dedication to her patients and team was evident through the many honors she received, including Clinic Staff of the Year in 2024 and 2025, a Certificate of Appreciation from the Graduates of the Family Medicine Residency Program, Class of 2023, and recognition for Perfect Attendance.

SeaKara was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and friend. Her heart was open to everyone, especially children. She had a remarkable gift for making every child feel welcomed and loved, greeting them with her warm smile and gentle spirit. Lasting memories we will cherish include movie nights with her girls, family trips, karaoke challenges, last minute Bingo runs, breaking UNO rules, her amazing home cooked meals, always being a listening ear, giving great advice, and unconditional support for everyone she knew.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Gloria D. Carter; uncles Milton W. Carter and Charlie B. Carter; aunts Sarita Carter and Marion J. Justice; and cousin Jackie Justice.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother: Tracy Carter-Lewis; precious children: Sariya Smith, Nylia Smith, and Kali Smith; her loving siblings: SeaNade Denton (Jerrod), Sharone Lewis (Candyce), and Shanara Lewis; and her cherished nephews and nieces: Sean Smith, Jerrod Denton Jr., Saiel Denton, Seven Denton, (soon to welcome) SaNaa Denton, Ahriya Lewis, Sahkai Lewis, Ahniya Lewis, Tye Lewis, and Sy’Aire Jones. She is also remembered by her aunt and uncle, Rev. Lawrence Carter (Geraldine); Aunt Brandy Hinds-Boone (Kevin); best friends, Rotasha Mack, Mohagany Thomas, Meaghan Lowe, and a host of family and friends. Additionally, she will be missed immensely by her UTMB family, especially her provider Susan John Noble.

SeaKara’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the lives she touched. Her story continues through the love of
everyone who was blessed to know her.
