Sammie Lewis Jackson, Jr. Obituary
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6
On February 2, 2025, Sammie Lewis Jackson, Jr. made his transition to Glory. Sammie was born to Sammie Lee Jackson, Sr. and Louise Marie Jackson on November 24, 1974 in Texas City, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age and grew up in Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Sammie was a life-long resident of Dickinson and a proud graduate of Dickinson High School. He attended the College of the Mainland after graduation. Sammie valiantly battled lupus since he was 17. In spite of his physical challenges, Sammie lived life on his own terms. He enjoyed listening to music and watching oldies but goodies on television. Sammie J kept his wheels rolling and passed the time cutting corners around Dickinson and G County. He kept up with all the happenings around town. Sammie was a sports fan. Early on, he followed and made sure he caught all the Houston wrestling action - ol’ school wrestlers like the Junkyard Dog before the days of WWE. Sammie was an avid Houston Rockets fan. While he did not claim any team as his favorite, Sammie faithfully watched professional and college football.
Sammie worked a variety of jobs over the years. However, he did not commit to or value any job as much as his position at CiCi’s Pizza. Sammie cherished his time with his coworkers and found joy chatting with regular customers.
Sammie was preceded in death by his parents, Sammie Lee Jackson, Sr. and Louise Marie Jackson, his grandmother, Leotha Thompson, his great grandmother, Ivory Thornton; his brother-in-law, James Kirby; his nephew, Brandon Conley; his great aunts, Mary Lacy, Rozelle Thornton, and Christene Peterson, and great uncle, Pierce Thornton.
Sammie is survived by his sisters, Trina, Renee, and Gwen; brother-in-law Booker; nieces and nephew, Jessica, Lacey, Brendon, Tiffany, and Candis, great nieces Ryan and Laila; godsister, Alesia; godbrother Ron; aunts, Ann and Mollie; and a host of family and friends.
