Rhonda Louise (Babin) Roberts Obituary
Rhonda Louise Babin Roberts was born on June 16, 1956, to the late Sidney and Josephine Babin in Lafayette, Louisiana. Baptized at Notre Dame Catholic Church and raised with love in a community surrounded by family, Rhonda was known as the “quiet” one, with a passion for reading and learning.
A strong student, Rhonda graduated with honors from St. Martinsville High School as part of the Class of 1974. From there, she went on to further her education at Delta College, continuing her studies in their Business School program. Rhonda dedicated many years of her career to early childhood education, touching the lives of countless young people with her wisdom, kindness, and care.
Through her union with Mitchell Roberts, Rhonda became a devoted mother to three sons — the joys of her life. While she loved all of her family dearly, she held a special pride for her sons and cherished a close, loving relationship with her grandchildren.
Some of Rhonda’s favorite things, outside of her family, included enjoying a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo (with extra sausage), reading books (especially mysteries), and visiting casinos and game rooms with her loved ones.
Having embraced life with quiet joys and deep love, Rhonda departed this world peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, surrounded by her devoted sons and family. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved sons: Calvin Mallery, Brandon Roberts (Desirha), and Ronald Roberts, all of Dickinson, TX; her siblings: James Filer (Peggy), Alice Alex (Donald), and Mary Nell Narcisse, all of St. Martinsville, LA; Ronald Babin Sr. (Melissa) and Sidney Mae Kately (Danny), both of Lafayette, LA; her 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; her godson, Sherman Babin Jr.; and a host of relatives, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Josephine Babin; her three brothers, Allen, Leonard, and Sherman Babin; and her two sisters, Brenda Joyce Filer and Viola Butler.
Rhonda’s legacy of love, strength, and grace will continue to live on in all who knew her.
