Oversia Haynes Gilbert of Texas City was born in Bedias TX to Henry Haynes and T Ellen Kizzie Haynes. 

She was raised in Bedias and later married Mr. Gilbert and moved to the Galveston County Area around 1967 with her children. 

She affiliated with Progressive Baptist Church and later with Barbour’s Chapel.  During her later years she moved her membership to Greater Harvest Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. D.J. Harris.

Mrs. Gilbert was a professional housekeeper and enjoyed her family and friends.  Her Neighbors at the Mansions of Texas City will miss her dearly.  She departed this life on Saturday April 8, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  She is preceded in death by her Parents; Husband; Son, Willie Kelvin Gilbert; Siblings, Norman Henry Haynes, Johnny Mae Weaver, Molly Brown, Celestine Kenney. 

Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her children, James Gilbert, Ellis Faye Ellis, and Patrick Gilbert; brother, George Ray, Kinney (Paula); grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
