Mother Myra Helen Thomas was born in Trinity TX to Harry Thomas and Leila Kizzee Thomas. She was reared in Trinity and later moved her family to Hitchcock, TX. She and her children were one of the first families to live in the Village apartments which were newly constructed for the citizens of Hitchcock.
Mother Myra graduated from Franklin Beauty School in Houston, TX and plied her trade for many years with the women in the Galveston County area as a Beautician. Later she found another love and begin her work with special needs children in the Texas City Schools where she continued to work until her health failed. She loved to do hair, cook and fish. Her family and friends took priority over everything except the Church where she also remained faithful until her call from the Lord.
Mother Myra answered her call with same faith and character that she displayed over the years. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is remaining in the hearts and minds of her children, Janice Kelley, Joe Thomas and wife Meleofa, and Jackie Fifer and husband Melvin, Sr.; grandchildren, Ray, Joe Jr., Leila, William, and Melvin, Jr.; nine great grandchildren; her co-workers, church family and many other relatives and friends.
