Michael Darnell Graves Obituary

 

On Wednesday, May 3, 1961, Michael Darnell Graves was born to our beloved Clarence Graves and Louise Griggs-Graves in Galveston, TX.  Michael aka “Mike” confessed Christ as a child and was baptized by the late Pastor R. E. Easley at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Galveston and later as an adult, united with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Brazoria, TX where he was pastored by his cousin, Pastor Larry D. Griggs, Sr. Michael was a lover of many things… He loved life, people and especially his family.

     Michael’s educational journey was deemed unique. It began in Galveston (where he grew up) at Carver & Goliad Elem, continuing through Central Middle School and ending his grade school journey at Ball High School prior to him opting to go into Job Corp. During his time in Job Corp, Michael earned his GED while simultaneously receiving his welding certification, along with other certifications namely. He was very skillful in the welding field. His gift in welding afforded him travels to many places throughout Texas and Louisiana. Michael’s welding expertise awarded him many assignments offshore including Guam.

    On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Michael departed this life. He leaves to cherish his love and precious memories his wife; Catherine Davis-Graves, his loving mother; Louise Johnson, his children; Christopher, Jason(wife, Jessica), Michael II, Michael III (wife, Kaylini), 11 Grandchildren, siblings: Gerald, Sylvia (husband George “BB”), Harold, Clarence Eugene (wife, Machell, Tamesha, Tyrone, Sheldon, Aunts: Felonise, Barbara Lee, Josie (husband, Rene), Vicki and a host of other relatives and dear friends who will forever LOVE him!

     Michael was preceded in death by his sister: Lori Ann Graves, Maternal grandparents: Ira Griggs & Nealie Tone-Griggs and Paternal grandparents: Clarence Graves, Sr and Annie Mae Graves.
