Lucille Lawrence Jackson Obituary

Lucille Jackson was born to Willie and Rosa Lawrence, on October 18, 1923, in Iota, Louisiana.  She was the last survivor of twelve children. Lucille Lawrence married Rodney Jackson on September 15, 1943, in Witchita, KS, and was faithful until his departure in 1995.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Jackson, parents, Willie and Rosa Lawrence, her siblings, and 3 grandchildren, Terri Young, Deneane Jackson, and Jervelle Ward.

Lucille leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Jewel Jones, and Anetra Williams (Donald), two grandchildren, Yvette Jackson, and Kevin Jones, Sr. (Thyra), 2 great-grandchildren, Kevin Jones, Jr. (Bria), and Shaquala Roberson, and 4 great, great-grandchildren, Marquise Williams, Anthony Williams, Nina Williams, Aiden Jones, and a host of other relatives.
Lucille was a faithful member of Shrine of the True Cross and a retiree from Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. After retirement, Lucille continued to be of service caring for others as a companion aid. She enjoyed outings with her friends at the Dickinson Senior Citizen Community Center and she enjoyed volunteering at her church.  To many, she was known as Mrs. Jackson, but in her community, she was known as “ MaCille”. To her family, she was known as “ Big Mama.” Lucille never met a stranger and would offer a plate to anyone in need. She loved her family and though she was a woman of few words, she would lovingly offer words of encouragement and wisdom. Lucille enjoyed life to the fullest and would brag to her family about how well she and her husband danced together. She enjoyed gatherings with her family and friends and there was sure to be a game played in her presence.  She instilled a sense of pride in her family and reminded them to love one another. Even through her later years, Lucille was a worker. She enjoyed caring for her plants and her yard.

Lucille would always say “Let me work while I can because one day I won't be able to.”  She worked hard and she received her crown on Monday, May 13, 2024, in her home. Well done my good and faithful servant.
