Lawrence Taylor was born on March 25, 1939, in Wharton, Texas, to the loving union of Lester Taylor Sr. and Gertrude Johnson. From his earliest days, Lawrence was blessed with a strong foundation of faith, family values, and hard work—qualities that would define his remarkable life.

     As a young man, Lawrence attended Booker T. Washington High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1958. His dedication, integrity, and dependable nature were evident from an early age and remained with him throughout his life.

     Lawrence accepted Christ and began his spiritual journey at First Baptist Church before later becoming a faithful member of Westward Church of Christ. His faith served as a guiding light, shaping the way he loved, worked, and cared for those around him.

     A man of unwavering work ethic, Lawrence devoted many years of service to his community. Throughout his career, he proudly worked with Local 116, the City of Texas City, and the Texas City Independent School District. He earned the respect of coworkers and friends alike through his reliability, humility, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.

     On August 2, 1993, Lawrence united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, JoAnn Taylor. Together they shared 33 wonderful years of love, laughter, faith, and unwavering devotion. Their marriage was a beautiful example of partnership, commitment, and unconditional love.

     Lawrence found great joy in life's simple pleasures. Whether he was on the baseball field, enjoying a competitive game of pool or dominoes, casting a fishing line, hunting in the great outdoors, or spending time at family gatherings, he treasured every moment. He was especially known for his love of cooking delicious barbecue and frying fish, bringing family and friends together over meals prepared with love. His warm smile, generous heart, and welcoming spirit made every gathering a little brighter.

     Above all else, Lawrence cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and treasured great-grandfather whose greatest accomplishments were found in the lives he touched and the love he shared. His wisdom, strength, and gentle spirit will remain a lasting source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

     Lawrence was welcomed into eternal rest by his beloved father, Lester Taylor Sr.; mother, Gertrude Johnson Taylor; grandparents; aunts; uncle; and a host of devoted family members and cherished friends who preceded him in death.

     He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving and devoted wife, JoAnn Taylor; his children, Gail Taylor, LaShawn Taylor, Lawrence "Lil Lawrence" Taylor, Jr., Brandie Smith Loud, and Tre Lawrence Taylor; his beloved grandchildren, Krissy, Kristopher, Corey, Kamron, Kierra, and Christian; his treasured great-grandchildren, Kaevion, Kaeden, Cayson, and Conner; his mother-in-law, Valarie Smith; his brother, Lester Taylor Jr.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were forever blessed by knowing him.

     Though Lawrence's earthly journey has come to an end, his legacy of faith, hard work, love, laughter, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His life was a testament to kindness, perseverance, and unconditional love, and his memory will forever be cherished.
