Larry Wayne Jones Obituary

Larry Wayne Jones was born on June 8, 1964 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Cloteal Crayton and Ozie M. Jones Jr.  He was educated in Natchitoches Parish School District at Allen High School, and was raised by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Effie Crayton after the death of his mother at a young age.

Larry was baptized at an early age at North Star Baptist Church in Powhaan, Louisiana under the tutelage of Rev. Daniel Monroe.  He joined the Job Corp at age 18 learning the trade of air conditioning and refrigeration, and becoming certified.  Larry did general labor jobs but mostly focused his attention on his trade in the industrial setting.

On December 21, 2000, Larry wed Ms. Betty Quinn in Santa Fe, Texas, continuing to live in Texas City until his health began to fail recently.

He transitioned from this earthly life on Monday, February 27, 2023 in Houston, Texas, to God's Heavenly Kingdom, joining his parents, Cloteal and Ozie M. Jones Jr.; brothers, Frankie Ray Jones Sr., Alvin Jones, and Freddie Jones; maternal and paternal grandparents; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Larry was a kind soul who opened his heart to anyone.  He was a stranger to few and a friend to many. He was a loving father and brother who always cared for his family. His smile and personality will continue to live on in the hearts of his wife, Betty Jones; his daughter, Consuello

Newton; three grandchildren, Iyana Harris, Jarvis Epps, and Kenya Newton; brothers, Aaron (Virginia) Jones Sr., Ozie Arthur Jones and Morise (Beverly) Jones; sister-in-laws, Yvonne Ratliff Jones and Mary (Rodney) Mallard; sister/cousins, Carol Crayton Young and Rocshell Crayton Dickey; a host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
