Larry Bertrand, age 67, of Texas City, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born in Sulphur, Louisiana, and was affectionately known as “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren.

     Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Alcee Bertrand and Willie Mae Laughlin-Bertrand; his beloved daughter, Lucy Bertrand; his son, Jesse Bertrand; his brother, David “Coon” Bertrand; and his sisters, Nancy and Peggy Sue Bertrand.

     He is survived by his wife, Aracely “Sally” Bertrand; his sons, Abraham (Jennifer) Bertrand and Larry Duhon Bertrand; his brothers, Harry James Bertrand and Ronald Lee Bertrand; and his sister, Christine Bertrand. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kayleigh Ann Ovalle (Delfino Ramirez), Eric Ovalle (Isabel), Landon Ovalle, Jesse Bertrand, Angel Vela, Josiah “JoJo” Bertrand, Willow Mason, Soleil Mason, and Salem Ramirez; his nephews, Tony Figueroa and Juan Aguilar; and his nieces, Priscilla (Carlos) Vargas, Jessica Bertrand, and Cassandra Bertrand.

     After the passing of his brother, David “Coon” Bertrand, Larry lovingly took in his brother’s three daughters and raised them as his own. He made a promise to his brother to always be there for them, and he honored that promise faithfully until his last breath. Larry is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends who dearly loved him.

     Larry was a caring, generous man who never hesitated to help anyone in need. He loved country music, cowboy shows, Hogan’s Heroes, and Gunsmoke. He could always be found enjoying an ice-cold Dr Pepper and fried chicken. Larry worked for many years as a truck driver at the plants until his retirement and loved spending time outdoors working as a mechanic. Everyone who met Larry felt his warmth, humor, and strength. His unforgettable laugh, quick wit, and jokes will be deeply missed.
