Kellen Samuel Franklin Obituary

On Wednesday, January 11, 1984, God blessed the lives of Clarence and Marilyn Franklin with a precious baby boy, whom they named Kellen Samuel Franklin. He was the first of three children and cherished his roles as “big brother” and “protector”. Kellen had God-fearing, Christian parents, and grandparents who raised him to live according to God’s Word. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. D.N. Benford, Sr. He was a faithful attendee of Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Saturday Morning Youth Group, and Baptist Training Union. Kellen was educated in the La Marque Independent School District and was a proud graduate of La Marque High School, Class of 2002. After high school, he attended ITT Technical Institute. He was a dedicated employee at Freshour Manufacturing Company, Inc. An opportunity was presented and Kellen's love for food preparation led him to become a part of the Moody Gardens Event and Catering Team.

Kellen had a kind, friendly spirit, and it was a pleasure to be in his presence. He enjoyed life and laughter! He has a smile that would light up a room and a distinct laugh that would make your heart smile. Kellen loved searching for a Netflix series, watching “In the Heat of the Night” and “First 48”, and spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan. On Sunday evenings you could find him watching NFL and NBA games. He was an aficionado of sports jerseys and had an extensive collection that he accessorized with headgear and shoes to match. Kellen was a foodie and a culinary master! He was well known for many dishes with smothered roast and fried chicken being the best!

Kellen Samuel Franklin was a dear son, loving father, devoted brother, life partner, and trusted friend. On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, God said “It is Finished”, and dispatched his angel to receive his child.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mable and Melvin Jennings Britton, Sr. and Dorothy and Raymond Franklin, Sr.

Though we bid farewell, Kellen’s spirit will forever live in the hearts of his daughter, Ke’Asia Franklin; parents, Clarence, and Marilyn Franklin; sisters, Jalessa Franklin, Jazlyn Raleigh (Trenton), and LaTara Bingley; life partner, Rosa Perry; bonus children, Mikaylah, Isaiah, George, Genesis, and Dedrick; lifelong friends, Keith Sullivan and RaMario Armstrong; Godparents, Verna Jean Henson, Melvin J. Britton, Jr., and Carrie Britton; Special Aunt, Bertha Mae Davis; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
