Joyce Marie (Perkins) Hudson Obituary
Joyce Marie Perkins Hudson was born on January 6, 1945, in Galveston, Texas, to Bowman Perkins and Jessie Franklin Perkins. The family lived in Texas City, and they were famous for their Bar-B-Que and the Family atmosphere at the Pit. The Pit was a gathering place for all the community, and the children played a vital role in the success of the family business. Joyce graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She was baptized and married in Greater Barbours Chapel Baptist Church under the Pastorate of the late Rev. J.H. Scott. After graduation, she married Hudson of Hitchcock, TX. They made their home in Hitchcock and raised their three children there.
Joyce was an excellent homemaker and a strict mother. She made life for her family almost like a storybook feature. Raising her children and focusing on her family gave her the joy of her life. The gathering of her sisters, brother, and other family members were the greatest events of her life. Minding her own business was the key to her happiness.
On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, Joyce answered the voice bidding her to come home to the special place prepared just for her with her heavenly Father. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Ted Perkins, and her daughter, Katie (Tina) Hudson.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Frank Hudson (Rona Washington) and Tammy L. Hudson; her siblings, Jewel Faye Perkins Newton and Margaret Perkins Searls. There are thirteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren that have been blessed to share her love. Joyce is also remembered by aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates along with many other relatives and friends.
