Jimaya “Maya” Le’ chelle Coleman was born on December 4, 2003, in Galveston, Texas to Kawonna Coleman and Jim Lee. The “baby girl” of three children.

     Jimaya attended public schools is Houston ISD and Texas City ISD.  Jimaya enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music, and fashion. Over the years she evolved from a quiet and introverted person to a butterfly that spread her wings and “became a force to reckon with”. 

     Her gentle spirit, shyness, and quiet strength brought light into the lives of all she encountered.

     During a very trying and uncertain time in her life, Maya accepted Christ into her heart, admitted she was a sinner, and confessed Jesus as her Lord and Savior! Thank you Jesus!

     Surrounded by the love of family, on Monday February 2, 2026 at the young age of 22 years old, Jimaya slipped away to return back home to her Heavenly Father which brought her eternal peace and healing.

     She rejoices in heaven with her grandfather Mitchell Coleman Jr., grandmother Frankie Jones-Lee, uncle Albert Gordon Jr., great-aunts Deborah Ann Millsap and Doris Coleman-Gipson. 

     Jimaya leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted mother, Kawonna Coleman (Malcolm); they were not only mother and daughter, they were best friends that shared countless talks, jokes, and laughter; her brother, Jamahl Coleman (Jayrian), her sister, Kiera Coleman (Glenn), grandmother, Shirley Millsap; nieces, Jazzlynn and Jream Coleman, nephews, Jamahl Jr, Jamir, Josiah, Jahmari, and Jyrin Coleman.  She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, along with many relatives and friends.

     With deepest gratitude to her prayer warrior/supportive “Nan Nan”(Demetria Jefferson).

     Jimaya will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Though her time with us was far too short, the love she shared and the memories she created will live on forever.
