Gloria Dawn (Zachary) Jackson Obituary
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4
Gloria Dawn Jackson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born on June 13, 1946, in Palmetto, Louisiana, and later moved to Galveston, Texas, where she graduated from Central High School in 1964. With a deep passion for caring for others, she pursued a career in nursing, becoming a dedicated registered nurse for over 40 years. She worked at Danforth Hospital until its closure and then continued her career at Mainland Center Hospital in Texas City, Texas, until her well-earned retirement.
Gloria was a woman of unwavering faith, a devoted Catholic who rarely missed a church service at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque, Texas. She trusted in God above all and lived a life of kindness, generosity, and service, always giving her time to others through volunteering and supporting her community.
Beyond her career and faith, Gloria found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She had a passion for gardening, growing her own produce and vegetables with love and care. She enjoyed scrapbooking, capturing cherished memories, and raising koi fish in her backyard pond. She loved to dance and embraced life with an energy and spirit that was contagious to everyone around her.
Above all, Gloria was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving children, Darrick Lamond Anderson, Ernest Anderson III, and LaTonya Nicole Anderson; and her adored grandchildren, Devon Anderson, Adrien Anderson, Kaden Sesay, Micah Sesay, Ava Anderson, and Nyla Luchin. Her love extended even to her grand-dogs, Junisha and Justice, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her dear brother, Elridge Moore, godchildren Charles Lynch, Raymond Thomas, and Jade Riley, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Gloria Jackson was kind to everyone she met, always offering a warm smile, a helping hand, and a heart full of love. Her presence in the lives of her family, friends, and community will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith, compassion, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at A Psalm of Life. The family welcomes all who loved Gloria to join in remembering and celebrating the beautiful life she lived.
May she rest in eternal peace.
