Eugene Wilson, Sr. Obituary

Eugene was born in Shreveport, LA to his mother, Carrie Wilson on November 21, 1947.  The family resided in Shreveport where he joined and was baptized at St. Matthew AME.  Eugene attended and graduated from Union High, playing football and singing in the boys’ choir.  After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a skilled machinist and traveling to many places until retirement.

After retirement, Eugene moved to Houston, Texas, and later settled down in Texas City.  Eugene was a wonderful, loving, and caring father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.  He was a character and all who knew him affectionately called him “Beetle-juice”.  “Beetle-juice” was the life of the party, and everyone knew that the party wasn’t a party until he made it.  He was surely the wild one of the family.

Eugene was preceded in death by his mother, brothers, John Henry Hightower, William Wilson, Horace Wilson; sister, Betty Jean Capers; grandson, Khiry Wilson and son-in-law, Bennie Branch.

“Beetle-juice” leaves to cherish his memories, his loving children, Veronica Branch of Dickinson, Michael (Janet) Wilson of Texas City, and Corey (Danielle) Swiney, Sr. of Rosharon; siblings, Roy Hightower of Los Angeles, and Polly Ann Harris of Houston; grandchildren, Daniel Anderson, Zachary Clark, Tamara Wilson, Corey Swiney, Jr.; and Daniel Swiney; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, special friend Mrs. Brenda as well as other family members and friends.
