Eric Boyd Boykins Obituary

2 CORINTHIANS 5-17

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:

old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

On August 26, 1969, a beautiful baby boy was born in Galveston, Texas to the union of Nathaniel and Faydine Boykins Sr.  They called him by the name of Eric Boyd Boykins. Eric graduated from La Marque High School in 1988.

Eric Boyd Boykins, 56, received his Heavenly reward, Friday, May 1, 2026, at 5 pm in La Marque, TX.

Eric gave his life to the Lord at an early age attending the family first church home Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership Pastor D.N. Benford and Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor M.C. Bridges then later in his adult life he united with Re-Birth Temple Church of God in Christ, in Texas City, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Herbert Payne and he worked his salvation serving the Lord as a member of the Usher Board ministry until his health failed.

While Eric was curious as a young child he and brothers would take apart their Tonka trucks and put them back together and scientifically minded, he approached the world with a sense of wonder and humor that never dimmed. He was adventurous and loved the thrill of bull riding and being a cowboy, someone that could find magic in the ordinary and beauty in the unexpected. His lifelong fascination with taking things apart lead to him becoming a self-taught Mechanic which blossomed into a true calling.

Eric started his career with Gulf Coast Mental Health in Galveston with a certification from the Department of State Health Services in Peer Recovery Coach Training. In his journey of employment Eric has also worked at LaMarque Post Office and as a Long Shoreman. He was very involved with Bourbon St. Riders Dart Team and M & D Social &Trail Riding Club. He also often showed off his culinary skills in cooking aka Seafood King. Eric loved fishing, carpentry and he loved being a great pranker.

Eric’s faith in God took him a mighty long way through all trails and tribulations his faith never wavered. He may not physically work on another vehicle, but he will be sitting under God shade tree.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Rufus Boykins Sr.; his grandfather, Elisha Boykins; and brother, Edward Williams.

Eric is survived by his mother Faydine; brothers: Charles “Midnight” Nelson Sr. (Ella), Nathaniel Rufus Boykins Sr., Dennis James Boykins (Julie), Jimmy Nelson and Alvin Guillory, sisters: Gwendolyn Garrett (John), Rosa Pearl Nelson, Bertha Nelson and Sheryl Gail Nelson: Devoted nephew Jeremy Jackson, devoted loving special friend Debbie Mason: Uncle John L Long: God-mother Carol “CeCe” Campbell, best friends Ed Joiner and George “Tiny “ Smith.
