Mrs. Edna Loretta (LaDay) Long

 

     On June 7, 1956, a Beautiful Baby Girl was born to Lawrence & Evelyn LaDay.  She was given the name Edna Loretta LaDay.  She was the second oldest child to seven siblings.

     Edna accepted Christ at an early age at Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church, Texas City where she served in the youth, young adult choir, and usher board and attended Baptist Training Union. Edna loved the Lord & had a beautiful voice often humming & singing her favorite gospel selection.

     Edna attended school in the LaMarque School District. She attended College of the Mainland briefly receiving a certificate in printing.  Edna Loretta LaDay - Long and Frank Wayne Long were childhood sweethearts.  The two soulmates reunited as adults and were unified for 46+ years. They had two son’s Joshua Long and Robert Long, and daughter, Mi’chael Henderson.

     Edna was a dispatcher at Hitchcock Police Department briefly, and then relocated to Marathon Oil working in the print shop. After an injury, Edna had to retire from duty on permanent disability.

     Edna Loretta LaDay- Long is preceded in heaven by her husband, Frank Wayne Long, (Grandson) Baby Bryce Jaycelon Henderson (parents) Lawrence LaDay, Evelyn Burns; (grandparents) Edna Hogan, Lewis Hogan, Alma & Alex LaDay; (siblings) Robert (Bobbo) Burns & Yolanda Sherry Scott.

     Edna leaves behind to cherish her memories her (Children): daughter, Mi’chael Monique Henderson, son’s Joshua W. Long, Robert Wayne Darnell Long, (Stepchildren) Shalelsha Johnson (Jermaine), Harrachio Fletcher, Aschel McCain; (Siblings) Alma LaDay, Regina Clark LaDay, Robbie Bourgeois (Leonard), Andre Burns; (Half brothers/sisters) Bobby J. Burns, Nicole Culpepper, Vanessa Gonzales, Sheji Rivers (Brandon), Gary LaDay, Franklin Carter, Monica Otis; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. And a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, families & friends.
