Earnestine "Tina The Great" Baker Obituary

"Tina The Great" aka Earnestine Baker passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 24, at the age of 85. She was born December 22, 1938 in Jeanerette, Louisiana to Izaiah and Margaret Scott. She fought her battle with breast cancer with courage, dignity, and grace. She was a devoted and passionate fan of wrestling. If you knew her then you know when wrestling was on, you had to be quiet or go home, and do not call, unless you were there to holler and scream at the television like she did. She worked at UTMB until her retirement. Earnestine fell in love and married Edward (Pokey) Baker and raised three beautiful daughters, Joyce, Dorothy, and Linda.

She was preceded in death by her beloved Edward (Pokey) Baker, parents, Izaiah and Margaret Scott, her daughter Dorothy Baker, brothers, Willard, Ed, Eddie, AJ, and Henry Scott, and sister Juanita Matthews.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce M. Grogan, and Linda D. Baker, and her sister, Dorothy Solomon.  She leaves behind a legacy of love through her 8 grandchildren, Ronald (Felicia) Grogan, VaShaun (Nate) Ellis, Roshaundra (Chrissy) Pea-Grogan, Brandie (Alicia) Baker-Johnson, Candiss Baker, Edward Baker, Emauri Baker, and Danielle Kelley; 7 great-grandchildren, Robert Grogan, Riley Grogan, Dasha Edwards, Daryan Edwards, Chrishanna Faison, Christopher Faison II. and great-great grandkids, Charleigh Lively, J’Lanie Nacori Collins and Norquezdan Florence Jr., as well as nieces, nephews and their families.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt thanks to Living Hope Home Health and Hospice Care, A Psalm of Life Funeral Home, and for all the love and support of friends, family, and co-workers. A private celebration of life was held on March 30, 2024.
