A Clean Sweep…
Dorothy Kemp was born in Wharton County, TX and was raised by her mother Willie Mae Grissom. After finishing her schooling in Wharton County, TX she moved to Texas City, TX. She was a very quiet person who loved her family and friends. Dorothy began to work for the Sowell janitorial service and later she and the entire staff was hired by the College of the Mainland for their janitorial department. She retired there after more than 40 years of service.
Dorothy loved the church and was a faithful member of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and many other capacities until her health began to fail. She loved and enjoyed a good fellowship with her friends and family.
On Sunday morning, June 18, 2023 God did what he does best, hears the prayers of His children, and called Dorothy from labor to reward. Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother and many other family members.
Dorothy leaves cherished memories in the hearts of her brothers, Lloyd Kemp Grissom and his family and Louis Timmons and his family. There are many cousins and other family members along with her Co-workers and Church Family to remember her life while continuing her legacy. Dorothy will be missed by all who knew and loved her beautiful smile.
