Catherine Sherwood McGrue passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, December 13, 2023, with the love of her family surrounding her.
     Catherine was born in Madisonville TX, on July 25, 1926 to Roy and Rebecca Sherwood. She was the oldest of 10. It was in Madisonville that she met the love of her life and best friend, Jessie McGrue. They married in 1944, and two years later in 1946, the couple welcomed their daughter Margie Ann McGrue shortly after the family migrated to Galveston TX in 1950.
     Catherine embraced motherhood again, with the birth of a second daughter Catherine Rebecca McGrue in 1953, and a son William Roy McGrue in 1954. Catherine McGrue's heart for helping people and caring nature led her to become a nurse aide working at John Sealy Hospital. She moved into the private sector as a personal living assistant until she retired in 2013. In her younger years and through her life Catherine was a social butterfly, belonging to several social clubs, and an active member of service at her church.

     Catherine McGrue joined Barbours Chapel Baptist Church over two decades ago under Rev. Scott. Catherine was a woman of many passions including her love of Fashion, collecting extravagant hats, and knitting. None of those could compare to the passion she had for being a loving grandmother, and an active serving member of Barbours Chapels Usher Board and later Church Nurse.  

     Catherine was preceded by her parents, Roy and Rebecca; her siblings, Norris, Dorris, Jimmy, Dorothy, Leroy, Audrey May, Vessie, her children; Margie Ann Geary; and William Roy McGrue.

     She will be missed by brother, Osbie (Bessie Ann); daughter, Catherine Rebecca (Johnny); god-daughter, Dorne (Martin) Biagas; grandchildren, Edith (William), Shelton (Nikki), Catherine, William, Christopher, Alicia, Karen (Nate), Billy (Vanessa), Edgar (Nyoka), Dennis, Yolanda (David), André (Lisa), Shelton, Shantel (Sylvan), Wendy, Mark (Orell), Robert, Cassandra; a host of great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
