I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.   2 Timothy 4:8-7

 

     On a windy, rainy night a knight and shining armor was born!! On the 16th day of November 1950, Carlton Eugene Holt was born in Galveston, Texas to Herbert Holt and Catherine Poulard both of Louisiana.

     The cool, calm and collected Carlton accepted Christ at an early age he was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. He was educated in Galveston ISD and attended the historical Central High School, and was the 1st integrated class of 1969 to graduate from Ball High School. Upon graduation, the charismatic Carlton was able to put his character to the test as he enlisted in the United States Airforce, a true veteran and a leader these traits of leadership were evident in his life. After returning home from serving his country he attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.   After this amazing experience he then began his journey at University of Texas Medical Branch Library System.

     He was also employed by the City of League City Parks and Recreation where he retired from in 2018. As an avid sports lover, he was employed as a sports referee, and his love for the game of life has always been prevalent in every area of his career. 

     He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kimberly Holt, his loving sister, Madelyn Elizabeth Holt aka “Liz”; his aunt, Madelyn of Third Ward, and cousin, Diane.

     Carlton’s charisma and true character are unmatched as well as unwavering through whatever obstacles and adversities he faced in life he always kept the faith and fought the fight of life. He leaves behind a loving daughter Karla Michelle Scott, a son Carlton Holt, Jr. (Shawn) & J. Ealim his loving beautiful & ambitious granddaughters KaMari, AuBrei, and Jordan. A loving Goddaughter, Christian (Kricket); a dedicated nephew, Jarrod J. Holt, Sr. who shared his love for football specifically the San Francisco 49ers; a loving sister, Margaret Flint of Houston, and a devoted partner, Ruby Brasher; a close friend who became a brother, Mr. Johnnie Quinine.

     A very special thank you to Doll Sheppard and etc. of Doll House Assisted Living Facility, Silverado Hospice Care, and Shirley Harper for taking great care of him during his time of illness.
