     Alonzo Hynson III, born in Galveston, Texas, on July 27, 1951, to Alonza Hynson Jr. and Myrtle Hynson, lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and community. A proud Class of 1971 graduate of La Marque High School, he continued his education at College of the Mainland, earning an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Mechanics. Known affectionately as “Lonzo,” he became a local figure through his shop and salvage yard, Lonzo’s Garage, where everyone knew they could find a helping hand, a good laugh, and a story worth hearing.


     On December 9, 2025, Alonzo Hynson III, transitioned from labor to reward. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Deidre Hynson; his sister, Laura Cockrell; his nephew, Kwasi Cockrell Sr., and other loved ones.


     He leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and love. Cherishing his memory are his sons: Alonzo Hynson IV (Ashley), Bryce Hynson, and Bryan Hynson (Glennisha); his daughters: Danyell Behlmer (Kevin), Shameika Henderson, and Laandranea Washington; his grandchildren, Kyle Aceto, Ciara Behlmer, Ryan Behlmer, Edwin Lundy, III, Adrian Smith, Kawan Smith, Demarion Bell, Armoni Bell, Jaylah Sanders, Diamond Hynson, Deasia Hynson, Alonzo Hynson V, Bryce Hynson Jr., Brylie Hynson, D’Veah Smith and Myaire Morgan; his great-grandchildren, Rheia Miller, Kennedy Smith and Javar Hightower; his sister, Eunice Scott (Alvin); his aunts, Mable Williams and Thee Davis; his niece Farisas Cockrell; and his nephews, William Cockrell III, Tavagoh Cockrell Sr., Alvin Scott Jr., and Arlo Scott; a host of cousins and friends.
