Alice Marie (Guinn) Jones Obituary

 

Alice Marie Jones received her reward of eternal rest on November 9, 2025, in Longview, Texas. 


She was born on June 1, 1928, to the parents of Alfred Guinn and Myrtis Palmer in Smithland, Texas. 


Alice was a very hard worker most of her life and was a maid to many prominent families in Texas City. She  also held the position of Housekeeping Supervisor at 5TH Avenue Nursing Home, in Texas City, Texas for several years. 


Her favorite pastimes were cooking, baking, attending church, and traveling to family events. As a youth, she accepted Christ and was very active at Stateline Baptist Church, in Trees City, Louisiana. 


In 1947, Alice moved  to Texas City, Texas shortly after the Disaster in April 1947. On May 29, 1975 she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor T.A. Lee. She was a very devoted member. She served in the Choir and Senior Mission. 


In 2001, she moved to Dallas, Texas, and attended Wayside Baptist Church until her health declined. 


She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Jones, children (in order of death), Ethel Marie, Gloria, Caroline, and Vicky: 9 siblings, and 9 grandchildren. 


She leaves to cherish her memory Mary Meeks, Michael Duncan (Lassie), Charles Dottin, Gertie Scott, Sharon Payton, Tenia Dottin, Penny Dottin, Robert Jones (Tammy). Siblings: Gloria Guinn of Detroit, Michigan, and Leonard Guinn of Chino, California; 32 Grandchildren, 70 Great-grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren, a host of other generations, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
