Alfrenella Jason Henley Johnson, Helen as she was affectionately known, was 70 years old.  She was born on June 16, 1954, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Jerry Lean Jason Beck and Vorice Stephenson.

      At a young age Helen moved to Galveston County with her family.  She united with Jerusalem Baptist Church in Galveston.  She was also a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Galveston, Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City, and she later became a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church Texas City, were she attended as often as she could.  She loved spending time with family and partying with her grandkids. 

     Helen was humble, loving spirit, an overly opinionated woman.  She did not mind giving advice when needed and when not wanted.  She had such a loving soul.  She was “Momma Helen”, “Granny”, “Grammy”, “Nanny”, and “Mee-maw” to plenty.  She had such a blended family and loved each and every one of them.  She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. 

     Helen passed from this earthly life to be with the lord on April 4, 2025, at HCA Mainland Hospital.  Helen was preceded in death by her mother, Jerry Lean Beck, sister, Cynthia Freeman Murray, favorite aunt, Natha LaDay, favorite uncle, Lawrence (Buster) LaDay, Sr.

     Left to cherish her memories her daughters, Nikkishia Henley-Phillips (Elijah) and Gia McDonald (Anthony); grandkids, DeAndre Knoxson (Kenshara), JaeQuon Sheppard (Jennifer), TraeRion Sheppard, Travis Hart, KenKarius Sheppard, Keaonte Phillips, Tamera Sheppard, and Jerrian Phillips; God grandchild, TreKwon LaDay; great grand, DeAndre Knoxson II; brother, Andre Beck, Sr. (Ivory); sister, Tamera Yoakum (Ruben); God kids, Erica Avie and Alania Brown; favorite aunt, Ora Lee Laday; hosts of niece, nephews, family members and friends.
